ISLAMABAD: Just when he had lost all hope, a man was released from jail 24 years after he was accused of murder. The Supreme Court on Friday in its verdict declared him innocent.
A three-member bench, presided by Justice AsifSaeedKhosa, heard the case. A trial court had given him the death sentence for a 1992 murder in Kasur. The High Court had also maintained the death sentence.
The Supreme Court in its verdict said that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient evidence. A pistol presented as evidence to the court did not belong to the accused. The apex court ordered release of the accused MazharFarooq due to lack of evidence.
