LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here on Saturday which reviewed the pace of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute Project and the measures for controlling hepatitis.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute project is a milestone in the provision of modern treatment facilities to kidney and liver patients and completion of this project will result in availability of state-of-the-art medical facilities to such patients in Pakistan.
While reviewing the measures for controlling hepatitis, the chief minister directed to conduct a survey for collecting authentic data regarding hepatitis patients. He said that prevention is better than cure therefore Hepatitis Control Programme should be implemented in an effective manners and a vigorous awareness campaign should be launched regarding preventive measures against hepatitis.
He also directed that vaccination programme against hepatitis B should also be implemented in an effective manner. The committee will review legal and other matters regarding control of hepatitis and submit its report by the end of current month.
Advisor on Health Khawaja Saad Rafique, President Board of Governors Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute Project Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar, other members of the Board, Chairman Planning and Development, secretaries concerned and senior officials were present on the occasion.
