LARKANA: One HIV positive patient died in Medical Unit-2 of Chandka Medical College Hospital here on Sunday.
“Zahid Khaskheli, aged 30, was the resident of Warah. His marriage was scheduled next month,” his father told reporters.
Zahid was detected HIV positive about 20 days ago. So far 114 affected people have died due to this disease. And 13 patients have so far lost their precious lives during the current year.
The number of HIV positive registered cases has also crossed 1400 at the HIV Treatment & Care Center of Larkana. As many as 35 HIV positive pregnant women were also registered at Shaikh Zayed Hospital for Women in Larkana since the establishment of the center in 2011.
This center was established by Sindh Aids Control Programme (SACP) but no kits for blood screening available now for 30 to 40 pregnant women who arrive in this Hospital for delivery in a day.
The center’s in-charge Dr. Aneela Isran told media that there is a shortage of staff at the center and this is not being addressed by the authorities concerned despite her requests since long.
